Athlete's Guide
This is a challenging – but doable – race. Just needs a touch of planning.
The Planning:
Starting with the bike makes it all easy. Unless you are towing your boat behind your bike (which would be sweet), pick up your race packet early, attach your race number to all your stuff, then head to the Transition Zone to drop off your equipment, where it will be lovingly watched by our most excellent volunteers. You must be back to start line by 9:00am for the race meeting, so don’t mess around – there are traffic lights and will be good number of folks in and out of the area.
If you are a team, you can take your stuff from transition right away. Otherwise, you can get it after the race. We’ll keep an eye on it until 1:00pm if necessary, but we’ll be thirsty too – plan to grab it before heading downtown to celebrate at one of the many Nashua bars and restaurants and we’ll see you there!
The Race/Route:
You’ve seen the description and we encourage you to look carefully at the Course Information and Maps page. (Remember this is a NEW 2018 course, so even if you've done this race before, please check out the maps and information.) Beyond that, this course us a good challenge as a solo, but none of the individual parts are ridiculous. Parade start is nice. Depot Road Hill, not so much. PLEASE: look for race signs to stay on course.
The paddle is easy for even the most directionally challenged – just head west up the river (we’ll point you in the right direction) to bouy, turn around and come back.
The paddle ends at a dock where two of the nicest (and tallest) folks you’ll ever get to know will help you if you need it. You can (and should) leave your boat and paddle in the water (well, your paddle in the boat and the boat in the water). We’ve got people to get them out for pick up. Climb the bank and run to the right (for those who have done the race before you're running down the old finish line). The paths are mostly wide and firm, but keep your eyes peeled for roots and chipmunk holes.
The finish is one of our favorite parts of the park, cruising along with the river on your left. Then its all over but the party. You’ll crush this.
Enjoy. We love this {NEW} course! We hope you do too!
